The Weiner Fiasco.....

By Jueseppi B.

Since my return from being a Homeless Man In Cedar Rapids, to being a "normal" divorced man in Cedar Rapids, I have purposely stayed private on my political agenda/beliefs. Many probably appreciate that, some, a few, might not. This Anthony Weiner fiasco is mind boggling to me, and makes me wonder if America/Americans are really this stupid.

I am seriously considering leaving the Democratic Party.

I do not appreciate the total "throwing under the bus" of a fellow Democratic politician. One who stood up for ALL the Democratic voters. The Democratic Party is a party full of asswipes and chicken shit men/women who are interested in their own party agenda, not the needs/wants of the people who elect them. The citizens whom voted for Anthony Weiner did not ask him to resign. The voters, his constituents, wanted him to remain in office.

The outcry for Mr. Weiner to step down, came from his fellow Democrats.  How stupid are we as Democrats to kick to the curb, a fellow voice who fought for OUR Democratic agenda? I am dumbfounded over this development by our OWN party against one of us.
If you care to do the research, go online and search for the members of our government, both parties, who have committed crimes while holding elected office...then search how many of those accused/convicted/indicted/busted politicians actually resigned. Or more importantly....how many were FORCED to resign.

I am pissed with the entire Democratic Party, from the POTUS to the former Speaker Of The House. If we can not, as a Party, support our members in Washington...we fail as a Party.
Weiner didn't break not one single law. Weiner didn't touch not one single woman. Weiner didn't hurt anyone but his wife and himself. He was stupid, and careless, and a moron....but,....to toss out one of the most progressive voices in Washington, over sexting??

We right now, have politicians in Washington, who have paid for hookers, stolen funds, misappropriated funds,  just broken the law outright. The Senate is currently investigating several of it's own for violations....BUT they are not asked to resign. America/Americans are so fucking stupid.

Americans Are Idiots, & Arguing With Them Is A Waste Of Time.

By Jueseppi B.

I usually do not argue with morons and idiots about POTUS Obama and his many accomplishments. It is like pissing up hill and into the wind....you always end up wet, and smelling of piss.
Today for example, I had an educated, intelligent idiot tell me that POTUS Obama is responsible for America being in "five wars", and that he will not be voting for POTUS Obama again in 2012. He also mentioned he was depressed over POTUS Obama's term in office. And to back up this ridiculous claim....he posted a link to a very credible source....a right wing, conselfishservative, RepubliCANT article. Yeah, that will convince me all right.

A few point I'd like to make, some opinion, some fact based. For a corroboration of the facts, do the research yourselves, proof of POTUS Obama's hundreds of accomplishments are listed on websites all over the internet...including the official White House website.
First...America is currently involved in hundreds of conflicts all over this planet, not just five. Most were started when POTUS Obama was a child....living as a Muslim in Iraq where he was born.
These conflicts have been going on since WW II....Vietnam, Korea, Afghanistan, Iraq, Cuba, China, Germany, Laos, Cambodia, Russia, and a few places you have never heard of or would ever suspect. America is great at covert affairs.

Blaming this POTUS for ANY war, is as intelligent as blaming him for the many disasters, (floods, earthquakes, oil spills, the Kardashians, volcanic eruptions, etc), that have befallen this planet during his first term. He simply ain't responsible for shit that was set in motion when he was not even in office. I guess one has to be a Rhodes Scholar to figure that one out.

What he IS responsible for is providing things for ALL Americans, that will benefit ALL Americans, for centuries to come. If I were POTUS Obama, and FLOTUS Obama, I'd tell America, The United States Of.....to kiss my black ass come "NO"vember. Let America deal with Newt, Sarah, Donald, The Godfather Pizza Guy, that Bachman Bitch, and all the rest of the moronic RepubliCANT pretenders.
Did anyone actually watch that RepubliCANT debate the other night?? If you wanted to laugh and forget your troubles with some comedy for an hour....you should have tuned in.

Bottom line.....WE Democrats have work to do between now and "NO"vember. Us TRUE Democrats, not the fake ass, on and off the bandwagon, wanna be Democrats when all is going well Democrats. BUT the dyed in the wool, true blue Democrats. When folks, like this idiot I was engaging in a very silly conversation this morning on Facebook, claim they will NOT be voting for  POTUS Obama, I say goodbye, so long. Your kind won't get him re-elected anyway....MY kind will.

What Homelessness Really Means.....

By Jueseppi B.

To be homeless in America, the richest nation on the planet, is a conundrum. How can a place, so rich in resources, cash,  and vacant unused real estate be full of homeless people? It's not just homelessness in America that puzzles me either...how can America have hunger/hungry when we Americans throw away, in the garbage, tons of food each day?? I worked in restaurants for over 26 years, most of those years cooking food for those who could afford to have me prepare the food for them. I have seen first hand, over 35% of food prepared in those kitchens I worked in....tossed into the trash at the end of the night.

Waste...should be America's middle name.
I spent the past week in Chicago, my first trip since getting my new apartment, and removing myself from the homeless population. I guess I look at all things differently now, I view everything through the eyes of a homeless man. This trip to Chicago was meant to be a reward for surviving the past six plus months of a life changing ordeal, but instead it was a constant reminder that homelessness is still out there, and rampart among Americans. On every block in Chicago, especially in the "Ghetto",  you will find vacant boarded up buildings, vacant lots, and property left abandoned and neglected. Just waiting to be occupied. Why are these places standing empty, when the streets are filled with homeless??

Why are Americans going hungry everyday when hospitals, restaurants, private citizens at home, supper clubs and fast food business's are throwing out and away tons of food each day? This baffles me. We spend billions, with a capital B, on wars, space exploration, propping up other nations and a host of other wasted issues on a daily basis. However we continue to overlook our human brothers and sisters, proof in point, most of us would feed a stray animal before we feed a hungry human.

I have been in this new apartment since April 6th of this year, that's just over two months. In this time frame I have decorated the place, gotten into a daily routine and started doing some volunteer work to help men who are in the same situation I was in for 86 days.
I am a very blessed individual...without divine intervention I doubt I would have survived this curve ball of life. Again, I wish to thank all those who knew of my misfortune and who gave me words of encouragement, who were there for me, who never doubted my survival instincts, even when I lost faith in myself. Thank you one and all, U know who U are.

Let's all of us do something today to help a homeless person, and let's not forget the hungry.
Thank U All.

Been Quiet Long Enough

By Jueseppi B.

Today's political climate is just stupid.
First off...people are blaming this Weiner fiasco all on weak ass Weiner.....WRONG!! I heard a woman today type that Weiner is a "sociopathic lying predator with harassing behavior toward women". Wrong again.

I don't buy that "sociopathic lying, predatory with harassing behavior towards women" bull shit. If I'm NOT incorrect, this woman sent photos to this idiot as well. Remember....no man does his "sociopathic lying, predatory with harassing behavior towards women" all alone....cheaters cheat with others....if you cheat alone it's called masturbation. Women must take their amount of responsibility for getting involved with men they KNOW to be married, if he is married....it's your responsibility to walk away....unless you are a "sociopathic lying, predatory and harassing woman.

Weiner was wrong....wrong in engaging in this behavior while married, but more wrong in lying about it after the sexting was made public, he should have taken the knowledge of Bill Clinton's fuck up as a lesson....hold NO press conference because it ain't our business. Every human being on this planet deserves a private life, including politicians and celebrities. The only press conference Weiner should have held was to invite the nosy ass press to kiss his white ass.

There is far too much newsworthy shit that needs to be reported, who is sexting whom is NOT news. I do NOT care whom Weiner is sexting, whom Arnold has a second family with or what stupid female is all involved with married men, simply because these married men are famous.

Election time is at hand....we need to insure that POTUS Obama is re-elected to continue his work, and his administrations work, this agenda must be completed.

There is a complete circus of RepubliCANT clowns who are throwing their collective hats into the political  ring, who think they have the chance of a snowball in hell, of winning the POTUS because the current genius holding this prestigious position is a Black American. Yes I called POTUS Barack Hussein Obama a genius....check his accomplishments and how he accomplished them working against so much opposition...then disagree if you dare.

Men cheat, women cheat, humans are NOT monogamous creatures. They try to be because society says they should be monogamous...but evidence shows us, most humans are not capable of choosing one life long partner. If a snake bites you, are you surprised? When humans stray and are not monogamous...are we so shocked? All our politicians are human...therefore expect them to do human shit.....

Lets focus on the re-election of POTUS Barack Hussein Obama.

The End Of Homelessness In Cedar Rapids.....Part Uno

By Jueseppi B.

This installment is dedicated to Ms. Nancy Stephens, a Facebook friend, who reminds me, from time to time, to get off my ass and write.

I left off last Friday, the 13th, telling you about my good fortune to get into the Mission Of Hope Shelter (MOH), and it was a stroke of good blessing. The staff at MOH helped me by supplying me with a list of housing options, allowing me to bend the rules a bit about eating because of my diabetes, ( you were only allowed to eat dinner in the shelter, which they provided for us) and allowed us all the option of staying in the shelter during the day if we decided to not leave. Of course we couldn't just stay in bed all day, we had chores to perform in the shelter if we chose to remain inside all day.

The atmosphere in this shelter was such a change from the Dady Shelter, God does work in mysterious ways. Right away I got busy revisiting all the agencies I visited before getting approved for SSI/SSDI...hoping that some or all would view me differently. I went back to the housing/rental agencies, and re-applied for the apartments with the backing of being approved for SSI/SSDI. Lo & behold...two days after "revisiting" one of the rental agencies, I got a call from a woman who told me someone had canceled their application for housing and I was next....and she had a studio ready for me to move into ASAP. I went to see the apartment, and it was clean, very nice and the price was perfect.

The next few days flew by in a rush of moving my very few possessions into my new apartment. I can not express the feeling of walking into your own place, using that key for the very first time. Stepping through the door way, into what will eventually become your sanctuary, your place of refuge, the one place where you can relax, unwind and de-stress. I did all of the moving on my own, and got everything in place in just over a few weeks....as a matter of fact, my brand new bed arrived this morning. The first time in over four months I will be sleeping in a real bed, not on a cot, or in a prison bed that the shelters supply. Over four months of being in rooms with four to a room, sharing bathrooms, dinning tables, privacy being impossible to come by.

Being lied to by "professionals" who are paid to help you, facing each day thinking is this the day I will find hope and get a place/job, or will this be the day I give up and step in front of a semi? I jumped through the "therapist/psychiatrist" hoop for the sake of trying all things suggested to me by the "professionals". I discovered that this world we live in is all about the Benjamin's...Cash Money....Dollar Bills. A medical doctor will prescribe you medication, with no basis whatsoever, just so he/she can be paid by the pharmaceutical companies who reimburse them with everything from cash stipends to golf memberships for pushing THEIR drugs.

Every "professional" I ever talked to, and I talked to hundreds, all suggested the same party line bull shit....get into therapy, see a psychiatrist, get involved in group sessions. Now, could someone explain to me how situational depression, which is what the geniuses diagnosed me with, can be cured by talking to a shrink, or a therapist, or sitting in group session for 3 days a week, 3 hours a day? Here is how you cure "situational depression"....CHANGE THE SITUATION. You do NOT prescribe six, count 'em....six anti-depressants/sleep drugs to a patient whom you never even talked to, upon reading a chart. I was depressed because of being thrown into homelessness by my ex-wife, during a divorce, a woman with no heart or conscious, but she is a Christian. I suppose her Bible teaches her Christ would do that very thing she did, make me homeless.

Here's a clue...if you remove the reason for depression, especially situational depression, which is caused by a new or existing situation which depresses you....then the situational depression vanishes. Instead of the "professionals" assisting me with finding a solution to my homelessness...they ALL figured a way to make money off of my situational depression rather than give me resources that would remove me from the system. Everything I accomplished, everything, except securing a reduced price bus pass, I did on my own. I was actually denied real help by two men incompetent in their paid professions. Mr. Joe Zito, and Mr Dustin Noble. Two people in positions to help all homeless men, but they chose to pick who they help. The rest of us, are shit out of luck.

By me finding a place to live, which was only possible by being approved for SSI/SSDI...I removed the depression, which was caused by my situation being changed from normal to homeless. Now, if any one of the "professionals" would have addressed this case on a one to one basis...there would have been one less man in the system. That spot I occupied in the shelters could have gone to someone else. County and federal funding used for me in all the places it was used, could have gone to someone who was in real need.
Yes, I was in real need, but taking up space and funding that someone else could have used, if only I had been handled the correct way. Instead, most every person who was paid to help, did nothing but figure out how to make a buck off my situational depression.

It took me from January 13th until today, May 17th, thats 125 days, to go from homeless to starting my life over again from scratch. I was blessed, and not because I was on my knees praying asking for help. I was blessed because I believe I have a purpose to help others just like me. I do not know how to accomplish this yet, but I am working on it. Daily. This is not over....changes will be made from within....not today, but the changer will come...........

The Middle......Part Duex...

By Jueseppi B.

I ended the last installment of this blog telling you all about my experience with the heads of five agencies telling me, assuring me, that I would not be in the street come my exit date from the Dady Shelter. Suffice it to say, that is exactly what would have happened if I had not been street smart enough to prepare for the worst.
It's Monday the 28th of March, and I am high on the knowledge that I have received a miracle from above in the form of being approved for SSI/SSDI in a record 36 days. That is unheard of, just ask the many, many people waiting years to be approved. I walk into the Dady shelter, only to be told to pack up and get out by that evening. I ask the staff member, after relating to her that the Dady counselor had assured me he would  find me a shelter to go to,  if she was just going to put me out into the street...her reply was, and I quote..."I guess so".

Now, blessed with a mind that works as it should from time to time, I was prepared for this to happen. I had been donating plasma to a facility and had been saving the donation money I was paid, for just such an emergency. I packed my belongings, called the cheapest  and the scummiest hotel in CR and made a reservation for one night. As I was waiting on the taxi to pick me up and take me and my bucket of KFC to this flea bag hotel.....one of the idiots who had assured me I would not be in the street, called to tell me he had arranged a bed in a shelter for me starting tomorrow. He never asked where I planned to sleep that night, nor did he offer any explanation why he lied to me about not being out in the street, and I never asked or mentioned a thing.

The taxi arrived, I loaded my two suitcases and bucket of KFC into the car and off I went to my hotel accommodations for the night. I slept on the floor to avoid the bed, which just screamed "bed bugs" into my ears. I made sure I was properly insulated against whatever might be living in the carpet, and slept a few hours till awakening and showering and shaving for the new days events. I got this bright idea to call this housing guy who dropped the ball about finding me another shelter before my exit date, and asked him for a ride to the shelter he had arranged to meet me at in a few hours. It costs me $20 taxi fare to the hotel from the Dady shelter, and I was trying to be frugal.
What followed is all true, all accurate and all an example of why this system is seriously flawed.

Mr. Joe Zito, the housing "professional" in CR for all homeless men/women asked me where I was. I proceeded to inform him of my plight, how since he didn't follow thru on his promise to make sure I was not kicked out into the street upon my exit date from the Dady shelter, I found a way to not be sleeping last night under a bridge somewhere. Follow closely now....this is the good part....Mr. Joe Zito, then informed me, that I was taking advantage of the system. He said that no homeless man can afford a hotel room, not even for one night. He then went on to tell me I should have slept on the couch in the Dady shelter until this morning, when he had arranged a transfer for me from the Dady shelter to the Mission Of Hope Shelter (hereafter to be called MOH shelter).
he also told me my attitude was not conducive to anyone helping me.

The conversation that followed between Mr. Joe Zito and I is not printable, but that morning, he found it prudent to get to the MOH shelter way before our appointment, and set up my arrival into this new shelter, so he would not run into me, and have to look me in the eye. And possibly get his ass handed to him. Contrary to the popular belief here in Facebook among those who dislike my strong political stance, I am not a man of violence, I am not mild mannered by any stretch of the imagination but I do not resort to violence as a first means of resolving conflicts. In this case, I reverted to the basic animalistic idea of depositing my size 13 shoe as far up Mr. Joe Zito's anus as it would realistically reach.

I was admitted into the MOH shelter that morning, and that experience at this new shelter was magnificent. It was professionally run by a woman most disliked because she was all business. She was the reason this place was clean, and safe from conflict. She made sure the many rules were followed and established up front who was in charge and what she would not tolerate from the men who lived there. That was very important, because lets face facts....not every homeless person is concerned with following rules and being clean. I found all staff members of the Mission Of Hope Shelter to be fantastic in their understanding of the trials and tribulations of being homeless.
They were compassionate and understanding to a fault. I got settled into the MOH shelter and got busy living toward finding a new place to live.........

The Middle......Part One

By Jueseppi B.

I apologize for being absent the past few days, and not continuing my adventure. I will pick it up at the point of my attempting to get the resources that I was told were available to a homeless man. When you first become homeless in CR, you spend so much time going around to all the agencies that reportedly have resources to help you find employment, or housing. I'm here to tell you that there are several resources that are set up to help you immediately....but that most resources available are not available to you no matter what your circumstances. This is not a condemnation on those employees who are paid a wage to assist us homeless, but rather a condemnation on the local/federal government agencies that have no real effect on helping the homeless.

When you first become homeless, the immediate need is a place to sleep, in safety, and a place to think and resolve your immediate problem of no where to call home. There are only three homeless shelters in CR that take men, and to nobodies surprise, they are packed full most of the time. To fullfil my obligation to the homeless shelter staff, and do my jumping thru hoops so I could remain in the homeless shelter, I visited the following agencies on an almost weekely basis...
DHS (Department Of Human Services)
General Assistance
Iowa Works (Formerly Iowa Workforce)
Social Security Administration
HCAP (Assistance with utilities)
Linn Community Care (Doctor)
Linn Community Free Health Clinic (Doctor)
MHDD (Mental Health Department)
Prescription Assistance
23 Employment Agencies
15 Housing/Rental Agencies

This almost daily, but definite weekly, routine leaves not much time for anything else. Everyday you get disappointed by being told you are not eligible for something. Although you are homeless, unemployed and indigent....you do not automatically qualify for assistance. Not everybody who is homeless is trying to improve their situation, some like the homeless life, some are comfortable living in shelters and going from food depository to clothes closet getting free stuff. Not many, but some. These individuals make it very difficult for those who are working to get back to "normal" lives.

Here is just one incident that left me frustrated, angry and very ready to kick somebodies ass....I was nearing my exit date from the Willis Dady Emergency Shelter, the first homeless shelter I was admitted into upon becoming homeless. As I said in the very beginning, you only get 30 days to be in any of the homeless shelters before you run the risk of being kicked out into the street. I was running all over CR jumping thru the various hoops to appease the Dady Shelter, and so I asked for an extension of my exit date. I was seeing a therapist, a psychiatrist, going to group therapy three times a week, and seeing a medical doctor for my diabetes, and I enlisted all four of the heads of these departments including the director of Transitional Housing, another agency set up to "assist" us homeless folks, to appeal to the counselor of the Dady Shelter NOT to kick me to the street upon my exit date.

This exit date arrived on the same day I received the spectacular news from the Social Security Administration that I was approved for SSI/SSDI, March 28th. Now this approval from SSA was a miracle and a blessing from God, whom I had turned my back on, but He didn't turn His back on me. I have talked to people who are fighting years, and I mean years...for their cases with SSA, as many as seven years for one man with a broken back...I was approved in 36 days. 36 days from the day I filed my claim for SSI/SSDI. Tell me that is NOT a blessing from God.

I was full of the good news and the blessing from God when I arrived at the Dady Shelter with a bucket of KFC to share with the other residents, to celebrate my good fortune and to help out those a little less fortunate than me. As I walked into the shelter, the staff member behind the desk asked me if I was there to pack up my belongings. I knew then and there that all the people who talked to this Dady Shelter Counselor, and the man who works for the state to ensure all homeless people have housing and are not in the street unless they choose to be in the street...had failed. Both "gentlemen" were too busy with other stuff to ensure me I would not be tossed out on my exit date.
I had been assured, promised even, as late as the Friday before this Monday the 28th of March, that I would NOT be out in the street....I was told I would be taken to another homeless shelter on my exit date if I was not allowed to remain in the Dady Shelter. Didn't happen.

                                       To Be Continued..............
